Welcome to our All Saints Website

All Saints Parish Primary School at Albany Creek strives to be a welcoming joyful community where everyone is accepted, encouraged, forgiven and inspired to achieve a balanced life. We are united in celebrating the Catholic faith and working for justice and peace. We aim for the holistic development of each child and excellence in learning while preparing our students to promote harmony in our world.

Community News

This term has been a very busy term! I seem to say that a lot these days, but the reality is that there is always a lot going on at All Saints. Albany Fair is always a big commitment of time and energy, and this week we have followed up with Gala Day and Music Camp!

I hope that all of the children, and you their parents, can stop and enjoy a rest over the school holidays. For those who may be travelling I pray that you arrive back safe and well. School resumes on Tuesday, July 14, for the children.

Library Extension
We officially received notification last week that our project of extending the Library has been approved. The plans are now being progressed to the next stage, with our two Teacher Librarians, Rachael Hill and Suellen Cotter, being busy looking at what is needed in the new building. We do not have a start date yet but it is more than likely to begin in Term 4 this year and continue for at least 6 months. Realistically this will be longer. I will keep you posted with the developments as they happen. The finished building will be a real asset to the school.

Yr 4-7 Gala Day
Last Thursday was the Gala Sports Day for our children in Yrs. 4-7. The children were involved in a variety of sports – touch football, netball, rugby league. All of the teachers and parents who assisted are to be congratulated for the time and energy that you put into the training and on the day. The children are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship. All reports commended the children on their behaviour, which is great to hear. Many teams did very well in making it through to the finals of their events as well.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Special thanks to all of the teachers and parents who have been attending the parent/teacher interviews. Approximately half of the classes will be done by the end of this week with the others being done in Weeks 1 and 2 next term.

Assessment and Reporting
Did you know information is available on this website which explains assessment and reporting practices at All Saints? This is also available as a booklet from the front office. Click here or click on Assessment & Reporting under Curriculum on the menu above.

Music Camp
On Sunday and Monday this week, approximately 175 children attended the annual Music Camp at Petrie. The weather was rainy for the whole time but the children were absolutely wonderful and did not complain at all. Thanks to the teachers who went and especially to Ruth Skippen for organizing the event. Ruth was ably assisted by Donald Smith and Madeline Charles. Sr. Pat was there as support as always. Thanks also to Cecily Brack and the team of parents who were so helpful in looking after the children and ensuring that the camp was successful. The concert on Monday afternoon was a fitting culmination to the work that the children had done with their teachers and guest tutors. Thanks also to our Drama teacher, Lisa Searle and Frida Joosting, our Dance teacher, for being there on Monday.

There are no early morning practices for the remainder of this week.

Spot on Sportzsports equipment
Congratulations to Kirk who was selected in the North District Softball Team. Good luck at your championships Kirk.

Athletics Carnival
The athletics carnival will be held second week of term 2. Notes have been handed to all children, which should be signed and handed back to class teachers by this Friday.

Gala Day
Well done to all teams at last week’s gala day carnivals. Looking at the amount of children in years 5-7 who are now on crutches you all obviously played very hard and physical. Your sportsmanship and friendly nature towards your own and other teams was second to none. Thank you to all the teachers for preparing the sides so diligently. Thanks to all the parents, relatives and friends who either looked after a team, umpired or refereed on gala day. The efforts from you all helped the children to have a great carnival.

P & F News
P & F Meeting
There is a change of date for the next P&F meeting due to the school holidays. Please note that the next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 7.30pm in the staff room.

Attention all Bakers
We would just like to thank you all so much for ‘answering-the-call’ and doing such a terrific job in providing us with a huge assortment of cakes, slices etc for the Albany Fair Cake Stall. We really appreciate it, as did all our happy customers!

Readers Cup Interschool Challenge - Runners Up!
Congratulations to our Year 7 Interschool Readers Cup Team who came second last week at the Regional Finals. A total of 31 schools from North Brisbane competed and our All Saints team worked brilliantly to end in second place. Our team of five read four novels and a picture book and studied the stories. They were an absolute credit to our school and we congratulate them on their success. Well done Ruwan, Emily, Gabrielle , Felicity and our reserve Emily.

Pyjama Foundation
Over 80 students from Years 3, 4 and 5 have been supporting the Pyjama Foundation’s first ever Reading Frenzy. Our students committed to raising a minimum of $10 each to help the work of this great organization by reading at least 10 books over the term. The Reading Frenzy ends just after the school holidays so we ask all participants to send in their sponsorship by July 24.

In other library news…. Congratulations to the Year 4 students who have been working on a Reading Passport since the start of school this year. They have made a fantastic effort at improving their reading and borrowing a wide range of books. They have earned a variety of rewards for their reading milestones. A special mention for all those students who received a certificate for 20 books.

Year 6 have been reading madly this term for their own year level Readers Cup. The classes compete in teams this Thursday. They should be commended on their commitment to completing their reading this term – a tremendous effort.

Thanks to the parents who have supported this program so well at home. Thanks for a great term of reading!
