History of All Saints

It was on the 4th January 1986 that All Saints became a Parish in its own right. Previously our Parish had been part of St Dympna's, Aspley and the Holy Spirit Parish, Pine Rivers. Some three or four years prior to its founding as a Parish, the Brisbane Archdiocese had purchased our Parish Land in Fahey’s Road, Albany Creek, with a view to the establishing of a church and school and other Parish buildings.

After the founding of the Parish we had planned to build the Parish school as our initial project, the object being to build during 1987, thereby being ready to open school in 1988. However, being a new Parish we had to rely heavily on a grant from the Commonwealth Schools Commission. Unfortunately, because of the demands made on the Commission that year no funds were forthcoming. We re-applied and received a grant which, combined with our ongoing Parish contributions enabled us to commence building in 1988,

and so our All Saints Parish School opened in 1989 with Preschool and Years 1, 2 & 3. 1993 saw a full complement of primary classes. The school now caters for over 650 children. With the introduction of Prep in 2007, the school and Parish commenced a new building stage. It included a new Parish Centre and 2 Prep classrooms and 2 general purpose rooms.

When our Parish started we had only one Sunday Mass celebrated at the Community Centre. Now we have four Sunday Masses per weekend, celebrated in our new church which opened in April 1996. Our Parish Church is now able to accommodate our expanding worshipping community in very beautiful surroundings.

With collaboration of all in our Parish we will continue to build up the Parish that it might be a very effective instrument in building up the Kingdom of God in this part of the world.

All Saints Parish School is under the patronage of 4 very special people. They guide and guard our Walk in Love.

Mary MacKillop, was Australia's first saint. She had focussed determination in ensuring education reached all. Her motto: Never see a need without doing something about it.

Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland. The Sisters of Mercy were the first staff in our school in 1989. Their motto: Be a shining lamp for others to follow.

Francis Xavier, was a Jesuit Priest and one of the patron saints of Australia. He travelled to Asian countries bringing the story of Jesus. His motto: Aim for the Magis (the more, the better for the greater glory of God).

Father Ron Mollison, was our foundational Parish Priest, who put the establishment of the school before the church and the parish. He built a community of resilience. His motto: strive to do all you can, never give up.
