Year 6 Canberra Trip

Our 2018 Year 6 Canberra Trip was a wonderful success again this year for all students and staff who attended. The students engaged with daily learning experiences as they deepened their knowledge and understanding of how the Federal Government works. Some of the highlights of the trip included:

  • Meeting the Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove. He spoke with the students for about 20 minutes at Government House.
  • Participating in the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial. Mr Dick Smith and a military delegation from Korea also were present at the ceremony.

The students were well behaved and displayed exceptional manners. The students were often complimented about their good manners and behaviour. The pilot of the Virgin plane returning to Brisbane, said that our students had the best manners he had seen in over 10 years. The students are to be congratulated on their good manners and behaviour. We had two days of warm weather and three days of very cold weather. Jacki Knott set up a closed Parent Blog so all Year 6 Parents were able to follow the trip on the blog. Thank you to our Year 6 parents for financially supporting this year’s trip. Special thanks to all staff who attended for giving up their week to support this important learning opportunity for our students.
