The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a reading challenge run each year in Queensland to encourage children to read more books. This year every class in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 at All Saints is participating in the challenge. The challenge runs from 14 May until 24 August and the criteria for success is that children in these grades experience or read 20 books during this time period. Our Early Years students experience many more books than 20 so at the end of the challenge, each child will receive a Certificate of Achievement, signed by the Premier of Queensland.
Students in Grades 3-6 are also eligible to participate in the challenge, but they are responsible for reading 20 books themselves in Year 3-4 and 15 books in Years 5-6. If your child would like to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge and is in Years 3-6 at All Saints, please email your child’s name and class to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will also need to download the form attached to this section of the newsletter and keep a record of the books your child reads. This will need to be handed in to the coordinator at the end of the challenge. Students who participated in the challenge but do not complete it can receive a Certificate of Participation.
