Our Guidance Counsellor will continue to provide counselling support to
students as required during this period of school alternative education provision. There will
be some differences to usual procedures, however, we will endeavour to provide wellbeing
support during this period of disruption.
Commencing from Day 1 of Term 2, if face-to-face services are no longer available,
telephone or email contact may be used. Melissa will respond to requests for support and
offer suitable contact times and method. Melissa will be available during usual school hours
although other arrangements can be negotiated to meet the needs of families. All normal
consent and record keeping procedures will be followed.Melissa will consider:
Whether the presenting issue is appropriate to be managed remotely.
If the presenting issue needs face-to-face management, a referral to an external provider
will be suggested.
The age of the student - primary students will require their parent/s to support access to
the Guidance Counsellor.
Parents may request a call or email contact via our standard referral methods, either
through contact their child’s classroom teacher or by liaising with Melissa directly
Students may indicate whether they would prefer a phone call or an email session. This
must be negotiated with parent/s’ knowledge and consent. Students and parents will be
advised as to privacy and confidentiality considerations and encouraged to discuss/
consider the expectations regarding this contact.
