It is expected that the student will be responsible for backing up their iPad on a regular basis. During the initial setup process, iCloud backup will be enabled. It is recommended that regular checking be conducted to ensure that the backups are up to date. There are 2 methods to choose from when backing up your child's iPad which are detailed below: 1. iCloud Backup:iCloud automatically backs up your child's iPad across all iOS devices using the same Apple ID. iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on the device. Once Backup has been enabled on the iPad, it will run on a daily basis as long as the device:is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fiis connected to a power sourcehas the screen lockedTo check that Backup is enabled on your child's iPad, go to
Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage. You can also back up manually whenever the device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing
Back Up Now from
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
If iCloud backup has not been enabled on your child's iPad:1. Tap
iCloud. If iCloud has not been set up you will need to enter your child's Apple ID and password and follow the prompts on the screen.2. Turn on the
Documents and Data that you want backed up.3. Tap on
Storage and Backup.4. Make sure
iCloud Backup is tuned
On.5. iCloud backup is now turned on.
2. Backup to iTunes on any Mac/PC computer: In order to backup your iPad using iTunes:1. Connect your child's iPad to a computer via the USB charging cable, with the latest version of iTunes installed. Ensure nothing else is connected.2. In iTunes, select
iPad (top right).3. Under
Backups, tap on the
This Computer radio button.4. Select
Backup now.Optional: Tap
Sync with iPad over WiFi to turn on automatic syncing/backup when the iPad is charging and iTunes is running on the computer with the same WiFi network.5. Once complete, disconnect your child's iPad.
